How often should I lubricate my garage doors?

Garage door springs and rollers should be lubricated every 3 months to minimize rust and wear. We recommend lithium grease, which is available at most local hardware stores.

Why is my garage door is difficult to lift?

Either worn-out parts need to be replaced or your garage door needs a tune-up. Give us a call at 816-616-8352 to schedule a maintenance or repair visit so that further damage is not caused to your garage door's internal parts.

Why won't my garage door close?

Most of the time garage doors refuse to shut because of the safety eyes. These prevent your garage door from closing if something or someone is in its way. If these eyes get bumped or vibrate loose, the safety beams will be out of alignment and keep the door from closing

You can tighten the bolt on the safety eye and tilt it back on the track. If this doesn't work, call give us a call for a service visit.

What is the difference between garage doors?

Garage doors may be similar in design, but not the same quality. Lower priced doors have plastic wheels while more expensive models have nylon coated steel wheels and smooth ball bearings. Some doors have a spring life of 2,000 uses while others have a spring cycle lifespan of 18,000 uses. We can help you find a quality garage door when you need it.

Do garage openers lift my door?

No, garage door openers only guide your door up and down on a motor and rail system. Garage doors are lifted and lowered by its spring system. This spring system can wear down, making it hard to operate your garage door.

What are some common signs that a garage door needs to be repaired?

Garage door and opener systems are complex, so there are several areas where something could go wrong. If your garage door shakes or is very loud during operation, reverses direction unexpectedly, opens slowly or closes too quickly, or if the garage door opener and remote aren't working at all, it's time to get help from your State Line Door & Lift repair specialist.

How do I know if I need garage door repairs?

Your garage door is opened and closed multiple times a day, making it subject to significant wear and tear over time. Pay particular attention to springs, cables, rollers and pulleys to check for damage. Do not attempt to remove, adjust or repair these parts or anything attached to them. These parts are under high tension and should only be fixed by a trained garage door professional.

Do you provide free garage door repair estimates?

We will complete a 14-point inspection of your garage door and provide an estimate of repair costs. There is generally a fee for this service, give us a call and we can talk you through it to see if you even need a service visit.
